What the critics say (scores are out of 100)
Stuff | Marc McLaren ...it's an absolute steal. There are plenty of great phones available...but few are as easy to recommend as this one. Read full review |

Trusted Reviews | Max Parker This phones offers excellent value and is mostly a joy to use. Read full review |
phoneArena | Daniel Petrov The sixth generation of Motorola's G-series leaves positive impressions in more ways than it has negatives. Thoughtful design choices coalesce with stock Android and long battery life for the ultimate in daily usage, and software update convenience. Read full review |
NotebookCheck | Mike Wobker The Moto G6 Play is a real killer in the $200 class. Its competitors are certainly going to have a hard time keeping up. Read full review |
Expert Reviews | Christopher Minasians An impressive display, good battery life and decent camera â the Moto G6 Play is another great budget phone from Motorola Read full review |
Android Headlines | Alexander Maxham The Moto G6 Play is a pretty decent smartphone, especially if you factor in the price. Read full review |
Phone Scoop | Eric M. Zeman The G6 Play is ideal for novice or young users who don't want or need a full-powered device, or for anyone who wants the most battery bang for the buck. Read full review |
Alphr | Alan Martin It looks the part, has a super camera for the price, and performance â on balance â isn't too shabby, especially in the battery department. The only thing keeping it from the full five-star rating is that you can get the Moto G5S on the cheap now, and, if you can stretch to it...the Moto G6 offers a lot more bang for the buck. |
TechRadar | Andrew Williams The Moto G6 Play is the most basic model in the G6 range but still has plenty going for it, including a long-lasting battery and a decent screen. If you're on a tight budget it's easy to recommend. Read full review |
Mr Phone | Vishal Toshiwal If you have a budget, then by all means, you should be considering the Moto G6 Play as an option. But, you will be paying a few thousands extra when compared to alternatives like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Honor 9 Lite, and a few other competitors. However, I still think it is worth that extra. |
Android Authority | Jimmy Westenberg The Moto G6 Play is great too, but I'd urge everyone to spend the extra... (if that's an option) for the G6. Read full review |
The Verge | Jacob Kastrenakes Otherwise, I don't find that the Plus stands out particularly favorably [compared to the Moto G6]. The screen is bigger, but it's also a bit less sharp than the one on the G6. And the bigger screen means a bigger body. It isn't unwieldy, but it's bigger than I'd like, and the extra size doesn't add anything feature-wise like it does on Samsung's (way more expensive) Galaxy Note line, which includes stylus support. Android Central | Hayato Huseman Clean software and outstanding battery life rarely come this cheap. Read full review |
NDTV Gadgets | Shobhit Varma The G6 Play is an average, middle-of-the-road smartphone that doesn't aim for greatness. Competitors such as the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 (Review) and the Redmi Note 5 (Review) are not only more powerful but more well-rounded on the whole. Read full review |
